Arvie Lee Sheets, 85, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away August 3, 2013. Arvie was born on October 7, 1927 in Bottomcreek, West Virginia to the late Edward McCoy and Millie Jane (Sheets) Sheets. Arvie retired from Morgal Machine and Tool where he had worked as a machinist. He was an avid pool player. Arvie enjoyed shooting pool with the guys at the Elderly United. Arvie was very social, outgoing and was very talented and skillful at writing poetry. He loved telling stories and especially loved telling jokes. Arvie loved to have fun and make people laugh. The thing most special to him was spending time with his family. Arvie is preceded in death by, his parents; his wife of 66 years, Betty F. Sheets; grandson, Corey Lee Sheets; five brothers, Rex Martin, Clifford Glenn, Tommy Eugene, James Neal, and Donald George Sheets; one sister, Nannie Cordelia Hamm. Arvie is survived by two sons, Ronald Lee Sheets and Edward M. Sheets both of Springfield; four daughters and sons in law, Linda D. Daly, Anita F. and husband Jerry Smith, Donna L. and husband Jeff Daniel all of Springfield, Karensue S. and husband John Lemen of Opelousas, LA; four grandchildren, Edward James Sheets, Edward M. Sheets Jr., Paige M. Daniel, and Mindy Wilson; great granddaughter, Tiffany Osborne; great great granddaughter, Izzy Osbourne. The family would like to thank the Heartland Hospice staff for all the wonderful care they provided. A celebration of Arvie’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the VFW,2825 E. Leffel Lane in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Braund Pope Funeral Home, New Madison, Ohio.
