Barry Wesley McLear, 65, of rural New Madison, passed away unexpectedly June 23, 2009 at Reid Hospital. Barry was born March 30, 1944 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Chelsie & and Elnora ”Ellie” (Hoggatt) McLear-Young. Barry grew up in the Ansonia Area and graduated from Greenville Senior High School in 1962 and had also taken machinist training. He worked as a machinist, a salesman, and lab worker at Cadalliac Gauge for 30 years. He also was a metal detector dealer for 36 years. Barry was a member of the American Motorist Club and the Rock and Gem Club in Richmond. Barry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn (Downing) McLear; two sons, Benjamin Wesley (Tracy) McLear of New Madison and Caton Bradley and (Teresa) McLear of New Madison; one daughter Elizabeth Juliann “Julie” (Steve) McLear-White of New Madison; three grandsons, Dagen Chelsie Wayne White, William Joseph Wayne White, and Wesley Gale McLear; three step-grandchildren, Layton, Cheyenne and Nadayo White; two brothers, Larry (Carol) McLear of Arcanum and James “Jim” (Margie) McClear of Greenville; one sister–in-law, Marilyn (Douglas) Jenkins of Hollansburg; five nieces, one nephew, several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and the family of Walter Wayne Young. Barry is preceded in death by son, Vaughn Scott McLear; step-father, Walter Wayne Young; several aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Visitation will be held from 1-4 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2009 and one hour prior to services on Monday at the Storch-Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 29, 2009 also at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.
