Catherine Ann Alexander (Knox), 72, of New Madison, Ohio went to be with her savior, Jesus Christ on November 30, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cathy was born on January 9, 1952 in Richmond, IN to Shirley (Wiegand) and the late Robert Knox.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her in-laws Foster and Birdie Alexander. Cathy was a warrior who battled breast cancer for 8 years.
Prior to her illness, she worked as a nurse at the Reid Cancer Center where she impacted the lives of many fellow cancer patients. Besides her nursing career, she was most proud of her family, who meant the world to her. Cathy loved to travel and was always up for an adventure, noting that her trips to Hawaii were her favorite. Cathy loved the color purple and enjoyed lilacs in bloom each spring. Her and her husband Roger enjoyed camping, traveling, riding their different Harley Davidson’s together, and riding recreational vehicles at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. They also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Cathy was an avid eater of chocolate, loved diet coke, enjoyed big shopping trips and loved celebrating Christmas. Cathy will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit and the way she cared and loved deeply for all she knew. She was the calm in the storm, always bringing peace and serenity to those around her. Her Grandma Wiegand always told her to treat others how she wanted to be treated and she lived by that mantra.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roger and her two daughters Kari (Jeremy) Reynolds (Ft. City, IN) and Michelle Alexander (Tipp City, OH). She is also survived by her mother Shirley Wiegand Knox. Other survivors include her grandchildren Shelby (Jordan) Ashbrook (Centerville, IN), Alexander Randall (Union, OH), Nate Reynolds (Indianapolis, IN) and Alex Reynolds (Ft. City, IN) as well as her two great-grandchildren Mylee and Maddon Ashbrook. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Eason, Deborah Harris, and Jayne Knox. Her friends that were family, Jenny Rhoades, Linda Curry, and Claudia Toschlog. As well as the extended Alexander family.
Cathy’s wishes were that everyone would know how much she loved and cherished her family and friends. She was thankful for their support and asked that a special shout out be given to her husband Roger for sticking by her side and loving, caring and supporting her at all times. She also wanted her mother, children and grandchildren to be reminded of her eternal love for them. Cathy’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Darke County Cancer Society and the staff of Reid Cancer Center for their support and care in this journey.
