Clifford "Cliff" J. Howell

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Clifford "Cliff" J. Howell, age 72, of New Madison, Ohio, completed his final haul in Huntington County, Indiana, where he passed away unexpectedly.

He was born on January 13, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Harold and Lorraine (Ballard) Howell.

In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his brother, Dewayne Howell; and his aunt, Goldie Peck.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janelle (Pipenger) Howell, whom he married on July 6, 1974; his children, Jason (Melissa Deak) Howell of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Misty (Holly Long-Westfall) Howell of Greenville; his grandchildren, Austin Howell of New Madison, Breanon Hall of Fort Jefferson and Gwendolynne Leugers of Greenville; his sister-in-law, Mary Howell of New Madison; his half-sisters, Caroll Conway and Susan Gardner; his nephews and nieces, Shawn Howell, Chad (Barbara) Howell, and Sherry (Jesse) Holsapple; and his beloved dog, Max.

Cliff was a 1971 graduate of New Madison High School. He was a lifelong owner-operator trucker, spending nearly 50 years running to the west coast. In his free time, Cliff enjoyed going to the movies, watching classic westerns, and fishing. Each August, Cliff took a weeklong vacation to go to the Great Darke County Fair, where he loved watching the horse races. Above all, Cliff was a family man and always put his family before himself.

A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison.

Guests may visit with Cliff's family on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
