Donald L. Mendenhall, 86, of Union City, Ohio passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Donald was born on September 12, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio son of the late Howard and Alma(Strader) Mendenhall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters,Evelyn Coblentz, Pauline Birum, Betty Simmons; two brothers, Gerald Mendenhall, Kenneth Mendenhall; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Mendenhall. He was a veteran of the Air Force having served in the World War II. He had worked for Miami Valley Milk Producers (Dairy Maid) in Greenville for 30 years, was a custodian at Mississinawa Valley School for 5 years, and was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura (Harter) Mendenhall; two daughters, Cheryl (Doug) LeMaster, Lisa (Mark) Spille; twin sons, Craig and Gregg; ten grandchildren, Laura (Ivan) Gregory, Kelly LeMaster, Troy (Ruth) Mendenhall,Chad (Melissa) Anderson, Michelle (Aaron) Missler, Eric Mendenhall, Megan (Aaron) Hollowell, Rachael (Travis) Brunk, Brent Spille, Jennifer Spille; 6 great grandchildren, Trent, Anna, and Gabe Mendenhall, Ava Gregory, Carrina Brunk, and Jackson Craig Hollowell. Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday,from 5 -7 p.m.. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Greenville Missionary Church.
