Doris Jean Schlechty

Doris Jean Schlechty, 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 20,2021, at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.

She was born in Preble County, Ohio, on February 28, 1930, to the late Harrison "Della" and Clara Edith (Shewman) Will.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Earl David Schlechty, whom she married on June 20, 1948; her daughter, Luann Reabe; her sister, Treva Hindsley; her granddaughter-in-law, Jenna Henderson; and her niece Sharon Miller.

Doris was born and raised in New Madison, Ohio. Her first job was the New Madison movie theater where she met her future husband, Earl. He would run the movies and she would make the popcorn. She was a past member of the New Madison United Methodist Church and is a current member of EUM in Greenville. Doris loved to read, collecting tea pots, spending time with family, and her cat Muffy. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly.

Doris is survived by her children, Nadene (Jackie Huiss) Schlechty of Grove City, Ohio, and Debra (Michael) Henderson of Greenville; her grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Reabe, Jonathan (Marissa) Reabe, Ryan (Leah) Henderson, and Scott Henderson; her great grandchildren, Coen, Burke, and Adalyn Henderson, Carriann, Emma, Melanie, and Wesley Reabe; her son-in-law, Charles Reabe, Jr. of Clearwater, Florida, and her niece, Susan (Dennis) Beane of Petersburg, Indiana.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio, with Pastor Don Smith officiating.
