Doris Virgina (Townsend) Paulus

Doris V. (Townsend) Paulus, 95, of New Madison, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2012. Doris was born on February 15, 1917 in Darke County to the late Russel and Weltha (Henninger) Townsend. Doris worked as a farmer’s wife during her life. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and mowing grass.  She was known as the lawn mowing queen of New Madison. Doris was a big Cincinnati Reds fan and a collector of dolls. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Samual Paulus who passed away in 1990;  three brothers, Galen, Warren and Lowell Townsend; three sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Betty Paulus and Shirley Laux;  and son-in-laws, Marion Petry and James Lockard. Doris is survived by four daughters, Mary K. Petry of New Paris, Peggy Lockard of Medway, Beverly and Bob Shaffer of West Manchester and Connie and Jim White of Eldorado; a sister, Jeanie Strawser of Greenville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 16 great, great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Fee officiating. The family request memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice and donations will be accepted at the funeral home. Services entrusted to Braund Funeral Home in New Madison.
