Dortha A. Smith

Dortha A. Smith, 95, of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, June 15, 2008 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. She was born in Darke County, the daughter of the late Stanley and Maude (Cole) Hartzell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Smith on November 6, 1975;brothers, Kenneth and Bob Hartzell; a sister, Helen Alexander; and a half sister, Thelma Hagaman. A homemaker, Dortha was a member of the Eagle's Ladies Auxiliary in Greenville. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Richard) Shockney of Dayton; grandchildren, Lora (Rob) Dunlap and Steven Shockney; great grandchildren, Aimee (Miles) Lambert, Scott Ceeley, Shannon Ceeley and Brandon Shockney; and a sister, Martha Lee Ward of Colon, MI. Services will be held Friday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville with Chaplain Bob Bitner officiating. Burial will follow in the Brock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Brethren Retirement Community, Resident Aid Fund.
