Edward A. "Ed" Collins, 89, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2015, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
He was born November 27, 1925 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Ernest, Sr. and Gladys (Sullivan) Collins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy M. Collins; a daughter, Colleen M. Hodges; and a son, Edward J. Collins.
Ed was retired from the former Corning in Greenville. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville and the Corning Retirees.
He is survived by his grandson, Josh Collins; niece, Catherine Rose (Rich) Schillo and close family friend, John Hicks.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 20 at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenville, with the Rev. Fr. John White officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 p.m. till 1 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.
