Edward G. Brown, 92, of New Paris, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Van Crest Nursing Home in Eaton, Ohio.
He was born on March 2, 1928, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the late Norman and Della (Nichols) Brown.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Donald A. Brown; his sister, Barbara J. Brown; and his nephew, Michael A. Brown.
Edward entered the U.S. Navy in 1945, serving as a Fireman Second Class on the USS YFD 6. Upon honorable discharge in 1947, he entered the U.S. Army for two years, serving as a Corporal in the general army. Edward had a passion for flying and was a flight instructor for single engine aircraft. He worked at the East Richmond Airport for many years. Edward was also a farmer for many years and operated a trucking service before retiring.
Edward is survived by his wife of 70 years, Miriam L. (Knox) Brown; his four sons, Ed (Barb) Brown of Eaton, David (Linda) Brown of Germantown, Ohio, Doug (Tammy) Brown of New Madison, Ohio, and Robert (Brenda) Brown of Greenville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Christie Barker, Kelly (Matt) Pease, Anthony (Kim) Brown, Kimberly (Jesse) Cunningham, Laura Melling, Justin Brown, Doug Brown, and Tiffany (Nick) Thomas and Lindsey (James) Allen; his 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow.
Edward's family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes with the arrangements.
