Elizabeth G. Spurrier

Elizabeth G. Spurrier, 93, of Hollansburg, passed away Thursday morning, October 2, 2008 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Weeksville, NC, daughter of the late Cecil Linwood and Kizzie Elizabeth (Jennings) Davenport. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Dewey Spurrier; a son, Gaylord Lee Spurrier; and two brothers, Cecil and Herbert Davenport. A member of the Hollansburg Christian Church, Elizabeth was retired from Fram/Allied Signal in Greenville where she had worked for over 25 years. She is survived by her children, Audrey (Norman) Cloyd of Greenville, Ernestine (Robert) Cloyd of Greenville; Ernest A. "Bud" (Shirley) Spurrier of Greenville, Jim (Pam Ahrens) Spurrier of Hollansburg and Robert Spurrier of New Madison; Step son, Gene Spurrier of Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren: 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Pheirba Sorey of Chesapeake, VA and Grace McCormick of Norfolk, VA; and a brother, Edward Davenport of Suffolk, VA. Services will be held Monday, October 6, at 11 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Joe Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and Monday 1 hour prior to services. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Lung Association.
