Gene Shoenleben

Gene L. Shoenleben, 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 18, 2021.

He was born on September 17, 1936, in Darke County, to the late John and Mabel (Ruebush) Shoenleben.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill King; his grandchildren, Jessica and TJ Shoenlaben; and his siblings, Roy (Thelma) Shoenleben, and Eldon Shoenleben.

Gene was a graduate of Gettysburg High School in 1954. He spent over 25 years working for the Brethren Retirement Community as a maintenance man. From camping to fishing and from mowing and working on his tractors and mowers, Gene enjoyed just being outside. Gene also liked tending to his beloved garden each year. He liked to spend time with his family and spoil his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Young) Shoenleben, whom he married on July 7, 1962; her son, Denny (Jacque) Shoenleben of Covington; his son-in-law, John King of Peebles; his grandchildren, Geoffery (Andrea) Burchfield of Greenville, Laura (David) Jones of Peebles, Sharon (Jon) Frock of Covington, and Nichole (Mark) Leistner of Covington; his 11 great grandchildren; his siblings, Evelyn (Ronnie) Bashore of Covington, and Aldon (Judy) Shoenleben of Gettysburg; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Shoenleben of Peebles.

Per Gene's wishes, there will be no services.
