Gertrude Ella Schroeder, 69, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home.
She was born on August 23, 1954, in Anderson, Indiana, to the late Kenneth and Anna May (Vance) Schroeder.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Alica (Shawn) Wright and Joellen (Jason, Sr.) Yost, all of Greenville; her grandchildren, Emmett Wright, Shannon (Amani) Cunningham, and Jason Yost, Jr.; her siblings, Audrey (Bill) Inholt, Kenneth Schroeder, and Joseph (Melissa) Schroeder, all Anderson, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gertrude worked for Head Start in Greenville as their head cook for over 25 years. She enjoyed strolling through Facebook, having a Jack and Water to drink, and listening to music. She also liked to collect dragons and wizards. Gertrude was a motorcycle enthusiastic and especially loved Harley Davidsons. She spent many years volunteering as a Girl Scout leader as well. But above all, Gertrude loved her family and appreciated every moment she was able to spend with them.
A Celebration of Gertrude's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Gettysburg Cemetery.
Guests may visit with her family on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help offset final expenses.
