Grace V. (Hittle) Riegle. 104, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2008 at the Gade Nursing Home. She was born on a farm near Rossburg in Darke County on December 4, 1903 daughter of the late Harve and Mary (Petersimes) Hittle.
Grace was a seamstress, housewife, caregiver, and a wonderful mother. She loved to sew, crochet, play cards and was a very good artist. Grace also was very involved in politics and would never miss a chance to vote. She was very particular about her yard always keeping it mowed and trimmed. Grace was the oldest living member of the EUM church in Greenville and won the oldest attendee at the Great Darke County Fair. Grace was a resident of Greenville since 1972. Early in her married life she and her husband lived on a farm west of New Madison where they raised their family.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Riegle whom she married in December 1927; three brothers, Raymond, Walter and Owen Hittle; four sisters Maude and husband Russell Garland, Blanche and husband Ralph Armstrong, Gladys and husband Herman Shade and Helen and husband Don Bigman.
Grace is survived by her three children Patrica and husband Gene Cox of Greenville, George and wife Janice Riegle of Greenville and William and wife Betty Riegle of New Madison; six grandchildren, Larry Riegle, Connie and husband Tom Flatter, Philip and wife Lois Cox, Douglas Cox, Cindy Cottrell and Sherry Martin; six great grandchildren, Emily Riegle, Derek and wife Mandy Flatter, Aaron and wife Pam Flatter, Jeremy and wife Tabitha Flatter, Brandon Cox and Kevin Cox; Three great great grandchildren, Taylor Flatter, Delaney Flatter and Landon Flatter; several nieces and nephews; and a sister in law Grace Hittle.
Friends and family may call on the family from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Storch Braund Funeral Home. The funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 also at the funeral home with the Rev. Elwood Stuart being asked to officiate. There will also be a short visitation 1 hour prior to service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson. Family ask memorial contributions be given to the EUM church in Greenville or Donors choice.
