Harry L. Birt

Harry L. Birt, age 84 of New Weston, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2012. He will be missed and remembered by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Geiling), his son, Brad (Teresa) Birt of New Weston, daughter, Shari (Bruno) Gallo of Orlando, FL., and grandchildren, Nicole Birt, Nick Gallo, and Nina Gallo. Harry served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a past clerk of the New Weston Council, a 60 plus year member of the Ft. Recovery Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Shriners Club of Dayton, Union City Elks, Greenville Liars Club, and treasurer of Ansonia High School Alumni Association. Harry was second generation owner and operator of Birt’s Store, which has been family owned and operated for 92 years. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the First Congregational Christian Church at 115 W. Fifth Street in Greenville, Ohio at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ansonia Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in care of Mrs. Mamie Warrick. 5000 Beamsville-Union City Rd. Greenville, Ohio 45331. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.
