James H. "Jim" Derr, 73, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Brown Township, Darke County, son of the late Nevin and Marie (Sholley) Derr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry L. Derr. Jim was a retired farmer and had driven school bus for Ansonia and Greenville Schools. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Greenville and a 1953 graduate of Ansonia High School. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Jean (Grote) Derr, whom he married July 1, 1956; his daughters, Peggy (Mike) Follrod of Ansonia and Cathy (Roger) Holfinger of South Charleston, OH; grandchildren, Amanda (Russ) Lyme, Bethany (Chad) Foreman, Dustin (fiancee, Afton) Holfinger and Allison (Mat) Robinson; Step grandchildren, Adam Follrod and Carla (Jason) Gibson; great grandchildren, Dakota Emrick and Lucas Foreman; step great grandchildren; Jimmy Gibson and Skyler Lyme; sister, Judith (Harold) Liming of Brookville, OH; and a sister-in-law, Wendy Derr of South Africa. Services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, on East Fourth St in Greenville, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville on Friday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the St. Paul Lutheran Church or State of the Heart Hospice.
