Janet Lee Whitley

Janet Lee Whitley, age 89 of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Oakley Place Assisted Living.

She was born on December 22, 1934 in Arcanum to the late Ethel and Ellison Penny.

In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene Minnich and J.C. James Penny and his wife Sandra Penny (Fiste); and sister-in-law, Janice Penny (Troutwine).

Those left to cherish Janets memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick L. and Cynthia S. (Sanese) Whitley; brother, Raymond Penny; grandchildren, Jessica Whitley and Eric (Kelly) Whitley; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.

Janet touched the hearts of all her family and friends with her smile, her wit, and her straight-talking style. She deeply loved her family and God. Over the years she worked at NCR, then Fram, and the Brethern Home before retiring. She took many trips over the years with various friends including, DC, Alaska, and the 1964 Worlds Fair to name a few. Many nights were spent playing cards with family and friends.
