John E. Cox, 69, of Greenville passed away early Sunday morning, December 30 at his residence. He was born in New Pittsburg, IN son of the late Maurice and Lottie (Stokes) Cox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Max and two sisters, Georgianna and Mary. John worked as the sales manager for Moody's Auto Sales in Ansonia for the last 34 years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was the Post Commander for the Ansonia VFW and a member of the Ansonia American Legion and the 40 & 8 of the post. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Conner) Cox; children, Kristina Mayo of Greenville and John W. Cox of Portland, IN; step children, Christina Moody of San Diego, CA, Ryan and wife Pam Moody of Versailles and Chelsie Moody of Greenville; grandchildren, Ashley, Marcus and Tyler Mayo; Jenna, Michael and Colton Cox and Deanna, Colin and Gavin Moody; two brothers, Maurice Cox of Union City, IN, and Donald "Joe" Cox of Penn.; and several nieces and nephews. Services with full military honors will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville Friday, January 4 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Hoeflich officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Ft. Jefferson. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, January 3 from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice.
