John H. Miller, 90, of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, September 21, 2008 at the Altera Sterling House. He was born on May 23, 1918 in Darke County to Willis and Lula (Wick) Miller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary, two brothers and 3 sisters. He was a veteran of WWII having served 4 ½ years. He was in the European Theater in General Patton’s Third Army and served in Europe for 18 months. He was a member of the V.F.W. and U.T.C. John was well known as the co-owner of Duffey Hardware Store in Greenville. He attended the Coletown Congregational Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances (Jefferis) Miller of Greenville; two daughters, Lucinda (Don) Conley of Warsaw, IN and Judy Satchell of Englewood, OH; grandchildren, Mandy and Mike Laning of Noblesville, IN, Sheena and Jeremy Zile of Warsaw, IN, Alyson and Ryan Satchell of Englewood, OH; 1 great grandson, Austin Zile of Warsaw, IN; two step-great-grandchildren, Logan and Adrianna Zile of Ft. Wayne, IN; two sisters, Ruby Delk of Brookville and Leora Oda of Arcanum. Services will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Wednesday, September 24; at 2 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 p.m. till 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be given to either State of the Heart Hospice or Sterling House of Greenville.
