In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Ann Hummel and Shirley Mae Gower, and her nephew, John Robert Martin.
Karen will be deeply missed by her daughters, Melanie Martin Velazquez (Juan Velazquez Lopez) of Apopka, Florida, Stephanie (Chris) Wagner of Union City, Ohio; her son, Christopher (Ashley) Marker of Union City, Ohio; her brothers James (Kerri) Martin, of Winchester, Indiana, and Kenneth (Aimee) Martin of Greenville; and her sister Jennifer Martin (Daniel Odeneal); her grandchildren, Emma Wagner (Austin Parkman), Juan Velazquez-Martin, Adrian Velazquez-Martin, Wyatt Marker, Grayson Wilkerson, Carter Wilkerson, Kenton Wagner, Kinley Marker, Atley Wagner, Dulce Velazquez-Martin, Cash Marker, and Knox Marker; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Karen was the matriarch of her family and to say that she has left a hole that can never be filled is an understatement. She was incredibly proud of the humans that she raised and the families that they built with her at their side. She found fulfillment in watching her babies do all of the things that they loved. From learning to walk and talk to playing baseball, softball, football, band, and taiko, she was there to cheer them all on. Karen had many talents including sewing and reupholstering. She reupholstered car, airplane and boat seats with ease. She crocheted blankets, hats, and booties for countless babies, family members, friends, or anyone who special ordered them. She took pride in the fact that she was able to show them love in her own way and give them security even when she could not be there in person to provide that. She enjoyed cooking big meals and delicious brownies for her family to bring them all together. Karen was blessed with the opportunity to be an incredible Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Mother and Mamaw to many and was sure to leave a permanent imprint on those that she loved. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family above all else. Vacations to the beach, nights at the casino and bingo or spontaneous trips to the mountains or the lake to fish with her family were her favorite pastime. Karen was a friendly smile and a tremendous supporter to anyone who needed it. The lights will shine dimmer now that she is no longer on this side of heaven. She will live forever in our hearts and in our memories.
