Karen K. Meier, 70, of Greenville, Ohio lost her seven year battle with cancer on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Center in Greenville, Ohio.
She was born August 18, 1943 in Darke County, the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Harrison) Mills. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mills.
Karen was very active in 4-H having been an advisor for 50 years with the Silver Hoofs 4-H Club as well as being a key leader for Darke County 4-H horse activities.
She is survived by her husband, of 36 years, Dale A. Meier, whom she had married October 30, 1977; children, Beth (Ramey) Israel of Greenville, Mary (Patrick) Neill of Union City, OH, and Scot Meier of Greenville; grandchildren, Tyrel and Ethan Israel and Hunter Wyatt Meier; brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Wilbur) Petitjean of Versailles, Joyce (Tom) Cline of Union City, IN, Rhonda (Terry) Blankenship of West Alexandria, OH, Billy (Pam) Mills of Richmond, IN, Jim Mills of Hollansburg, and Ron Mills of Hollansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews including special nieces Serena (Terry) Creech and Athena (Steve) Miller.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday June 26, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. The family request memorial contributions be given to either Cancer Association of Darke County or State of the Heart Hospice.
