Larry L. Hoffman, 56, of Ansonia passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening November 20, 2008 in Ansonia. He was born in Celina son of Gaylord and Doris (Garwood) Hoffman of Celina. Larry was the Police Chief for the Village of Ansonia. He had previously worked for the Darke County Sheriff's Office as a Dispatcher and Jailer. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, the Ansonia Sons of the Legion, and the Greenville Eagles. He was president of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a huge supporter of Ansonia Cops for Kids and had worked as one of Santa's Helpers for the last 18 years. In addition to his parents, Larry is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy (Mangen) Hoffman whom he married November 12, 1983; two daughters, Amanda and Shelly Hoffman both of Ansonia; a brother, Rick (Linda) Hoffman of Celina; a sister, Linda (Jim) Klingler of St. Mary's; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Hoffman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with the Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrating. Burial with full police honors will follow in the Holy Family Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH, Tuesday, November 25 from 3-8 p.m. with a prayer service being offered at 8 p.m.
