Lloyd E. Alexander , 87, of Greenville and formerly of New Madison, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Lloyd was born January 9, 1921 to Wilbur and Ina (Harrison) Alexander in Darke County.
He was employed in industry for twenty years and the Department of Defense for twenty years. He also served in the U. S. Army in Europe in World War II. During his life he enjoyed listening to Reds baseball on the radio and spending time with his family.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Bessie to whom he was married for over sixty years. He has missed her every day since her passing. Also preceding him in death were five brothers Fred, Herbert, Harold, Harley, and Robert; four sisters Esther Daughtery, Helen Blunt, Hazel Blue, and Mary Bowers.
Lloyd is survived by a son James Alexander of Greenville; one daughter Linda and her husband Glenn Christian of Indianapolis; one brother, Howard of West Milton; one half brother Orville Hoos; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Storch-Braund Funeral Home in New Madison with the Rev. Bob Bitner being asked to officiate. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 15 from 2:00-4:00 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery.
