Mary E. Thornhill, 91, of Rossburg, passed away Saturday evening, August 15, 2015 at the Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born May 21, 1924 in Darke County, daughter of the late David and Susie (Lehman) Marker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George K. Thornhill, on January 3, 2009; a son, George William Thornhill; a great granddaughter; and a brother, Burl Marker.
Mary had worked at the former Lambert's in Ansonia. She was a member of the Darke County Steam Threshers and the Tri-State Gas Engine Association of Portland, IN.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane (Gail Dean) Edwards of Ansonia; sons, Larry (Judy) Thornhill, Douglas (Cheryl) Thornhill and Gregory (Roxie) Thornhill all of Rossburg; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 19 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the DAV, Wounded Warriors, or the Rossburg Fire Department.
