Melia D. Liles, 73, of New Madison, passed away late Wednesday evening, October 31, 2012 at the Oakley House in Greenville.

She was born August 15, 1939 in Mintonville, KY, daughter of the late Ed and Bonnie (Jasper) Hardwick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Denny Hardwick; and three sisters, Marie Brown, Sylvia Rice, and Vina Rector.

The seventh of nine children, Melia spent her childhood working on the family farm and socializing at church. She was saved at home after a revival meeting as a teenager with the help of her father. She graduated from Memorial High School and moved to Dayton, OH for work. She met her husband to be while working as a carhop at Frisch’s. She went on to raise four children, drive school bus for handicapped children and teach Sunday school classes.

An artistic and loving lady, she leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Robert B. Liles, whom she married December 4, 1959; sons, John Liles of Brookville and Jerry (Diane) Liles of Springboro; daughters, Sandra (Jason) Netzley of Greenville and Sherry (Matthew) Adkins of Kettering; grandchildren, Daniel, Caleb, Benjamin and Joshua Liles, Lena, Sara, Luke, and Jared Netzley; a great grandson, Samuel; a brother, Ollis Hardwick; sisters, Ada Maggard, Lena Rice, and Verna Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, November 5 at the Faith Baptist Church, 740 Russ Road, Greenville, OH, with Pastor Bill Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ithaca Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH, Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
