Melinda S. Bright

February 27, 1986 — November 4, 2024

Union City, Ohio

Melinda Sue Bright, 38, lost her battle with ALS on November 4, 2024. She gave a good fight. She was strong-willed and loved by so many. Her family was her everything. She will be deeply missed.

Melinda was born on February 27, 1986, and adopted by Mary Ellen Hoover. After Mary Ellen passed, she was raised by her grandparents Patricia and Richard Foland, whom she considered her parents.

Melinda is survived by her wife, Lorinda Bright. Melinda married Lorinda on October 31, 2020, but they had been together since 2015. They were each other's person and loved each other like no other love.

Melinda is also survived by her children, Kailey Yohey, Caleb Bright, Jada Zehringer, Lucas Zehringer; and her nephew Shawnaven Foland, whom she loved like a son. Melinda is also survived by her birth mother, Tonya (Brian) Cain; her siblings, Janene (Steven) Price, Keisha (Corey) Smith, Ana-Alicia (Charles) Alexander, Lee (Megan) Wert, and Rick (Teresa) Foland; numerous nieces and nephews; and her fur babies, Luna, Dash, and Moo.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mary Ellen Hoover; her grandparents, whom she considered her Mom and Dad, Patricia and Richard Foland; her brother, Robert Foland; and her sister Rachelle Foland.

Melinda loved being in nature; she loved hiking, kayaking, camping, and traveling. She had a love for music, reading, her fur babies, and old cars. But most of all, Melinda loved making memories with her family. She loved watching her children play sports, and she always put her family first.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus.
