He was born on May 29, 1953, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Ary) Bruner.

Mike was a 1971 graduate of New Madison High School. He was a plasterer by trade for many years. Mike worked at the Parker factory in Lewisburg for over 30 years, until he retired in 2016. Mike loved all things softball. In his early years, he coached, managed, and played men's league softball. Mike also coached girls summer softball in New Madison. His competitive nature did not stop on the field. He was known for always going the extra mile to win the races at the Bruner family reunions. In his free time, Mike loved gardening, hunting and fishing, woodworking, and playing golf and Wordscapes. Most of all, Mike loved his family and enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to do things the "right way".
