Peggy Lou Toy

May 30, 1952 — April 8, 2024

Arcanum, Ohio

Peggy Lou Toy, 71, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born on May 30, 1952, in Kittanning, PA, to the late Berton and Edna (Bell) Johns.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers, Bruce Johns, Kenneth Johns, and Jerry Johns.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald “Tink” Toy, whom she married on August 28, 1976. Peggy and Tink were truly inseparable. She is also survived by her children, Jerret Toy, Shane (Kelli) Toy, and Jackie (Lester) Baker, all of Arcanum; her grandchildren, Samantha Hartzell, Kaitlyn Toy, Caden, Bryn, and Londyn Baker; her great grandson, Kyler Goubeaux; her siblings, Merle Johns of Akron, Ohio, Trudy Johns of New Kensington, PA, Bill (Mary) Johns of Adrian, PA, and Polly (Jeff) Delacor of Adrian, PA; her sister-in-law, Julie Johns of Adrian, PA; and her in-laws, Raymond (Jamie) Toy, Jr. of Kittanning, PA, Mike (Holly) Toy of Rural Valley, PA, Barbara Toy of Kittanning, PA, and Rusty (Lori) Toy of Kittanning, PA.

Peggy was a 1970 graduate of East Brady High School. She spent several years working at Dayton Children’s Hospital, until she became a homemaker. Peggy’s family was the most important thing to her. She loved watching and spoiling her grandchildren. She rarely missed their sporting event and enjoyed taking them to Kings Island. Peggy had a servant’s heart. She enjoyed sewing and it was not uncommon for her to make blankets and donate them to her family and friends. She even took them down to Dayton Children’s.  She often volunteered for the American Red Cross and at local shelters and food pantries. In her free time, Peggy enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her garden, doing yard work, and feeding the birds.
