Perdita G. Baird

Perdita G. Baird, 92, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 under Hospice care in Leesburg, Florida where she lived with her daughter for the past 3 years. Until then she was a lifelong resident of Darke County. She was born in Darke County, daughter of the late Melvin P. and Maude Marie (Dill) Spencer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herald A. Baird in 1996, and three sisters, Mary Slade, Nellie Leas and Doris Thomas. She was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ, Ayrshire Breeder's Association, NFO and a former 4-H leader. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (Robert) Schultz of Fruitland Park, FL and Marilyn Baird of Amarillo, TX; a son, Dale A. (Marsha) Baird of Hoagland, IN; a brother, Melvin M. Spencer of Greenville; 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 1 great grandson and 5 step great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given for Alzheimer's research, c/o the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
