Randy Louis Rutherford

February 26, 1954 — September 2, 2022

Randy Louis Rutherford, 68, of Jonesville, Indiana, passed away on September 2, 2022, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 26, 1954, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Dorothy Mattingly Hogan and the late Cecil T. Rutherford.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Fee; and his brothers, Lee Rutherford and Larry Wayne Rutherford.

Randy is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Donald Harmon, Dawn and Joshua Lyman, and Hollie and Lee Barrett, all of Greenwood, Indiana; his grandchildren, Andrew and Adam Harmon, Isla and Anna Barrett and Jimmy Lyman; his siblings, Roger and Ann Rutherford of Paducah, Kentucky, and Lynn Schisler of West Milton, Ohio; as well as many niece, nephews, and good friends.

Randy was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He recently retired from Southern Indiana Logistic Center in Columbus, Indiana, where he was employed as a forklift operator for twenty years.

Randy was immensely proud of his daughters, grandchildren, and extended family. He was always happy to see others prosper and succeed. He enjoyed working on his lawn and home, caring for his chickens, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. Randy had a special way of making others feel valued and special and would always root for the underdog. He could easily talk to, and connect with, people of all walks of life.

Randy's daughters would like to thank their mother, Diane Vaiano, who opened her home and heart to care for Randy in his last days on earth. They would also like to thank Clarence and Marsha Davidson, Teresa, Joy and Morris "Woody" Woods for their support in helping Randy stay in the home that he loved for as long as possible.

A celebration of Randy's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, Indiana, with Pastor Hershel Fee officiating.
