Richard "Dick" Spahr, 73, of Greenville passed away early Monday morning, October 8 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. He was born May 2, 1934 in Fairborn, son of the late Cloid "John" and Mabel (Shank) Spahr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Delaplane; a brother and siter-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Ann Spahr; and his faithful companion, Charlie. Dick was retired from Fram/Allied Signal in Greenville where he had worked for 46 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge #329 both in Greenville. He was an avid motorcyclist, golfer and Dale Earnhardt fan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Emig) Spahr, whom he married Feb. 25, 1956; 3 sons, Dean (Ann) Spahr of Indianapolis, IN; Joe Spahr of North Carolina; Gary (Nan Woodruff) Spahr of Greenville; grandchildren, Alison, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jerry and Justin; brother, James Spahr of Seattle, WA; a sister, Norma Eller of Jacksonville, Fl; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville with the Rev. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the St. Mary's School or the charity of the donor's choice.
