Ruby H. Sholley

Ruby H. Sholley, 81, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday evening, March 25 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late McKelvey and Esta Fern (Faehl) Atkinson. She was adopted in 1937 by the late John and Bertha Hampshire near Ansonia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Atkinson, a half brother, Ferdy Murphy and a half sister, Orpha Baron. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class from Ansonia High School in 1945. She worked at the Citzens Bank of Ansonia as well as banking institutions in Tucson, Ariz., where she lived with her family for several years. She also had worked for the Citzens State Bank in Greenville. She retired from Corning Credit Union. She was a member of the Greenville VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William J. Sholley whom she married January 24, 1948; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Victor Arnett; 3 grandchildren, Barbara Arnett (Larry Vititoe) of Arcanum, Jeff (Darrellyn) Arnett, Nicole (Kirk) Rice of Greenville; seven great grandchildren, Ethan Arnett, Jeffery and Jordan Rice, Mara, Celeste, Annie and Billy Arnett all of Greenville; a sister,, Virginia Sipe of Portland, IN; and a half sister, Treva Marker of South Carolina. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Sam Hoeflich officiating. Burial will follow in the Ansonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice.
