Ruth J. (Rue)

Ruth J. (Rue) Strait, 76, of Union City, OH and formerly of New Weston, OH, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. She was born in Dayton, OH, the daughter of the late Cara A. and Sally Jane (Howard) Rue. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Strait in 1992; sons, Gary Strait in 2001 and Charles Robert Strait in 2005; a daughter, Renea Strait in 2000; brothers, Cary E. Rue and George M. Rue; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Rue. Ruth was retired from Fram/Allied Signal in Greenville where she had worked for over 40 years. She was a member of the former New Weston United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Gale Strait-Vasquez of Rockford, OH; granddaughters, Laura Maria Vasquez, Stacy Vasquez-Wickey, Andrea Vasquez, Scarlet Amber Strait and Brandy Strait; great grandchildren, Seth, Selena, Javier, Kali, Anthony, Kara and Benjamin "BJ"; brothers, Jimmy H. (Cathy) Rue and Jerry Rue both of Union City, OH; a sister, Peggy (Allen) Thwaits of Celina; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, November 20, at 7 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH, with the Rev. Travis Combest officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Shook's Chapel Cemetery near Rossburg, OH. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5-7 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Toys for Tots.
