Shirley E. Tinkle, 74, of New Madison passed away peaceably at Rest Haven in Greenville on Sunday, November 1, 2009 after a brief illness. Shirley was born in Ridgeville, Indiana on June 18, 1935 a daughter of the late Charles and Conchetta (Stouder) Wooters.
On May 6, 1952 Shirley married her husband, John Tinkle and began traveling as he was a member of the United Stated Air Force. In April 1969, Shirley and her husband returned to Ridgeville where they resided until moving to New Madison in 2001.
Shirley had many joys in her life, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest achievement was obtaining her private pilot license in June 29, 1971. Shirley enjoyed traveling, being a foster parent, and canning vegetables from their garden.
She is survived by her loving husband; three sons, Barry and wife Gwen Tinkle of New Madison, Doug Tinkle of Georgia, and Johnnie and wife Chris Tinkle of West Milton; a daughter, Star Darling and special friend Frank Valensi of Florida; an adopted daughter, Brenda Weeks of Florida; thirteen grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sue and husband Ernie Coleman of Florida; a brother, James and wife Loretta Wooters of Fairview, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Charles Douglas Wooter.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Ft. Jefferson Church with the Rev. Doug Baker being asked to officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to State of the Heart Hospice in Greenville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.storchbraundfuneralhome.com. Services are entrusted to Storch Braund Funeral Home in New Madison.
