Tina Larae Struever, 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born on January 30, 1938, in Union City, Ohio, to the late Richard Clapp and Frances (Ellison) Piper. In addition to her parents, Tina was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph "Rudy" Struever, married May 28,1965; daughter April Abrams; sisters Vickie Winsett and Linda Jones; and brother-in-law Daniel Massie.
Tina is survived by her grandchildren Christopher Meza, Sr., of Tacoma, WA, and Sara Witthauer of Los Angeles, CA; Great Grandchildren Christopher Meza, Jr., Naja Poole, Kalila Garrison, Amayah Meza, Savayah Meza, Donald Thurber, Jr., Daisy Elliot Thurber, and Samuel Witthauer; and Great Great Grandchild Ayvah Mezaher; sister, Gail (Clapp) Cooper of Greenville, OH; and nieces and nephews, Steven (Janene) Winsett of San Diego, CA, Frederick Winsett of Hemet, CA, Michael Winsett of San Diego, CA, Jackie (Rob) Vida of Dickinson, TX, Scott Wilt of Greenville, OH, Angie Rehmert of Arcanum, OH, Benjamin (Shannon) Cooper of Black Mountain, NC, and Timothy (Amanda) Cooper of Charlotte, NC.
Tina and Rudy lived in Peru, IL, and Santa Monica, CA, where she worked as an insurance claims adjuster and owner of Ewetopia Knitting. She taught knitting and tea etiquette and participated in the Knitter's Guild and Herb Society. Tina also belonged to the Upper Valley Fiber Guild with a recent display of her designs and antique tools. The Struevers traveled the world together, collected fine and cultural art, and journaled most events. Their love was romantic and full of gratitude and joy for their life with one another. Tina and Rudy also gave generously to the arts, community and family throughout the years.
An online service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, 2:00 p.m. so family and friends from Washington, California, Illinois, Ohio, and around the world may join in this celebration of Tina, or Larae as many knew her. Share stories or a reading for our grandmother, great-grandmother, knitting and tea teacher, friend, sister, aunt, and angel who remain with us forever.
