Velma W. Kolb, 102, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away, peacefully at Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, on Monday, August 15, 2022.
She was born on April 8, 1920, near North Star, Ohio, to the late Edward and Margaret (Prasuhn) Brand.
In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Herman J. Kolb, in May 2022; and her brother, Frederick C. Brand in January 1996.
As a young woman, Velma lived with her aunt and uncle in Dayton, Ohio. She worked at Frigidaire during WWII making munitions for the war. She made many friends and traveled extensively. In 1956 she married Herman and in 1960, they started their family. She and Herman had their own farm and spent the rest of their lives working it together. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She met many people and formed many relationships over her long life and will be missed.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Elaine Kolb of Columbus, Ohio; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Velma's life will be held at 5:30 PM on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Greenville Union Cemetery.
Velma's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the care and compassion given by her extraordinary eldercare aids, Teresa P., Teresa B. and Chrissy, as well as to the staff at Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
