Virginia Lee Blackford

Virginia Lee Blackford, 79, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

She was born on March 3, 1942, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late John "Junior" and Geraldine (Owens) Strait.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Conner; her son-in-law, Patrick McNutt; and brother-in-law, Joe Blackford.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Blackford, whom she married on August 14, 1960; her children, Jay (Kim) Blackford of Greenville, Ohio, Jayne McNutt of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Jill (Joe) Benanzer of Sidney, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; her sisters, Janet Blackford of Tipp City, Ohio, Mary (Jerry) Blackford of Tipp City, Joann (Kenny) Didier of Washington State; and her brother, Phil (Becky) Strait of Greenville.

Virginia was a 1960 graduate of Greenville, High School. She was a home maker who was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of The Beech Grove Church of the Brethren.

A Celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus, with Pastor George Glaze officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.

Virginia's family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
