Walter Franklin Sturgill

Walter F. Sturgill, 86, of Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

He was born on August 14, 1934, in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Miranda (Laws) Sturgill.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his siblings, John Stugill and Dorothy Fuston; and two infant sisters.

Walter was a simple man, but he truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. He worked for Wayne Corporation in Richmond for over 25 years. Walter was an ordained minister and spend many years pastoring at Hill Top Tabernacle in Connersville, Indiana. He was a faithful follower of Christ and even started his own mission in Hollansburg. Walter loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed working on cars and fixing anything he could get his hands on.

Walter is survived by his wife of 68 years, Daisy (Wolfe) Sturgill; his children, Larry Sturgill and his wife, Kathy, of Pineville, Kentucky, Angela Harris and her husband, Jerry, of New Paris, Ohio, and Donna Fries of Hollansburg; his 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Walter’s life will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus with Pastor Duane Yaney officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.

The family will be receiving guests on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.
