Wendell Lee Dear

Wendell Lee Dear, age 55 of Troy formerly of Pitsburg, OH, earned his promotion to heaven on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family. 

He was born on January 13, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Clifford O. and Cindy Dear. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ponder; nephews, James Dear and Cory Dear; and great niece, Bailey Lewandowski.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Ann Dear, whom he married on June 25, 1994; brothers, Clifford J. (Sharon) Dear and Harold (Sheryl) Dear; sister, Betty (Herb) Estridge; sons, Michael Stambaugh, Christopher Stambaugh, and Matt Shaw; daughter, Dana (Matt) Donahoue; grandchildren, Kaleigh (Nick Vogann) Stambaugh, Summer Stidham, Kaden Stambaugh, Dakota Stambaugh, Oliva Stambaugh, Lukas Stambaugh, Dakota Gephart, Madison Burchfield, Lydia Donahoue; great grandchildren, Maverik Vogann , Katheryn Vogann, and Vivian Stambaugh, life time friends, Tim Middlestetter and Michael Sonstegard; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was a kind, loyal, gentle, giving, caring, and loving man who was loved by so many coworkers, family and friends. Wendell was employed at Applied Mechanical Systems in Dayton, Ohio for nearly 37 years. He always said, “If you love what you do for a living, it isn’t work”. He worked hard and loved harder. Wendell was an avid classic car enthusiast and loved everything about cars. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kulkarni and his nurses Tiffany, Lapaula, and his office staff, Dr. Clune, and the ICU nursing staff at Upper Valley Medical Center. 

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, 1000 N. Broadway St., Greenville. 

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Warren. Interment will follow the service at Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg.
